Any.do: To Do List & Planner

All-Devices-Cover-New

Any.do is a productivity platform aimed at task and project management, with over 40 million users worldwide available on mobile, web, and wearables with built-in integrations including calendars, chat applications, and virtual assistants.

My Role

As the Lead Designer at Any.do, I played a pivotal role in expanding design capabilities and evolving features using new standards. This involved aligning designs with product and engineering initiatives, ensuring seamless integration of design and functionality. By envisioning future improvements and strategies, I contributed to the long-term vision and success of the platform.

To amplify design thinking throughout the organization, I organized workshops and training sessions to educate non-design team members about user-centered design principles. By showcasing the value of design thinking, I helped teams approach problem-solving in a more empathetic and user-focused manner.

I established design as a fundamental component within the organization, sharing design processes and outcomes transparently. This fostered a collaborative and user-centered approach to problem-solving. Additionally, I developed design guidelines to ensure consistency and coherence across the platform.

Web & Mac OS Experience

Despite browser & OS constraints, we aimed to create a web app that seamlessly integrates with our mobile app, providing users with a cohesive planning & productivity experience across devices. Our goal was to showcase the power of the Any.do Web App + mobile app combo, emphasizing its planning capabilities & productivity features on the user's computer.

The redesign of the Web and Mac OS versions of Any.do brought several notable benefits to the platform. One of these benefits was the introduction of features such as easy task dragging and batch editing. The release coupled with continuous user research, sparked the idea of utilizing the web app for team task management. We actively started to explore ways to leverage its capabilities in order to facilitate seamless coordination and collaboration among team members. As a result, the web app evolved and separated into an ideal tool for collective task management, enabling teams to stay aligned, delegate responsibilities, and track progress in real-time.

Assistant Iterations

In reshaping Any.do's Assistant feature, we tried to come up with a blend of highly trained human assistants with cutting-edge machine learning and AI technologies. This novel approach aimed to enhance user productivity by simplifying tasks like flight bookings and gift purchases through a seamless mix of text and voice inputs. Users could make requests via text or voice messages, prompting immediate assignment to a dedicated assistant ready to address their needs.

The successful integration of human expertise and AI capabilities resulted in a significant reduction in support queries, an impressive 80% increase in overall completion rates, and a notable 32% rise in Premium package sales. This redesign not only transformed the Assistant feature but also paved the way for a new era in user assistance. However, due to resource constraints, the envisioned standalone Assistant app couldn't be fully developed, as the business focus shifted towards team task management.

Brand Refresh

I took the initiative to lead the brand refresh project. Recognizing the importance of keeping our brand relevant and visually appealing, I spearheaded the efforts to revitalize the Any.do brand identity. Through extensive research and careful consideration, we developed a fresh and modern visual language that aligns with our target audience and reflects the evolving nature of our product. The brand refresh brought a renewed energy and consistency to our visual assets, enhancing our overall brand perception.

During the Any.do brand refresh, we focused on creating a cohesive and memorable brand experience across all touchpoints. We refined the brand elements, such as logos, color palette, typography, and graphic styles, to create a harmonious visual system. The brand refresh also extended to various marketing materials, website design, and social media platforms, effectively communicating our brand values and attracting a wider audience.

In my dynamic tenure at Any.do, I thrived in the fast-paced environment of a startup, embracing the occasional chaos as an opportunity for growth. Despite the challenges, contributing as the lead designer allowed me to fully comprehend and shoulder the responsibilities of a well-established brand.

During my 2.5 years as a Lead Designer, I orchestrated a pivotal role in elevating cross-platform consistency and refreshing the overall brand experience at Any.do. My primary objective was to cultivate a unified aesthetic and user experience seamlessly across all devices, infusing the brand with a contemporary look and feel.

In terms of product development, we successfully enhanced existing features and introduced new experiments, some of which significantly enriched the Premium package and overall user experience.
